When: Sat., Aug. 29, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 2009
The event sponsored by Trout Unlimited, Sierra Club, Idaho Rivers United, US Forest Service and the Be Outside Initiative is a chance for families to load up in the family truckster and follow the route of the red Kokanee Salmon as they swim up Mores Creek. From 10a.m.-1 p.m., participants can visit five well-marked road stops along Highway 21 where a different free activity awaits such as views of Idaho’s red Kokanee, panning for gold, planting a tree to improve water quality and more. Maps are available at www.idahocitychamber.com. The big party at the Idaho City Park from noon-6 p.m. includes food and beer vendors, live music and more information about Idaho’s fish and wildlife. Activities for children include wild water games, storytelling in a teepee and lessons on how to cast a fly. Kokanee Outdoor Day celebrates the beauty of the state including Idaho’s fish, wildlife and clean water. For more information, contact Pam Elkovich at 208-345-9800.
