- President Donald Trump's overall approval rating has dropped to 36 percent in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, the lowest ranking of any president since formal polling began after World War II. Trump responded on Twitter by calling the poll "not bad," but still implied it was inaccurate.

- The Ada County Coroner still hasn't identified a boy who died after being pulled from Quinn's Pond in the evening hours of July 14. - The State of Idaho closed the books on Fiscal Year 2017 at the end of June, bringing in nearly $94 million more in state tax revenues than had been projected. The Division of Financial Management issued its final FY 2017 report July 14, which indicated the state took in almost $3.45 billion in revenues compared with the predicted $3.35 billion. "This reflects great credit on our State's fiscal discipline and sound public policies that put taxpayers first," said Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter in a prepared statement.
- Meanwhile, Otter continues to convalesce at home following a July 14 surgery, his second operation in a week. The Governor underwent surgery July 7 to repair a bulging disk in his back, but further testing triggered the second operation last Friday. A spokesman says no meetings have been planned for this week and Otter continues to do state business via telephone.
