    • Donald Trump, Jr.
An attorney for Donald Trump Jr. still insists his client hasn't done anything wrong, as multiple news agencies are reporting that before meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer, Trump Jr. was told the Russian had compromising information about Hillary Clinton as part of a wider Russian government effort to assist the Trump campaign. The New York Times reports the 2016 meeting took place less than a week before it was reported that Russian hackers had compromised computer servers belonging to the Democratic National Committee.
  • Two major American businesses have kicked off a day of significant and unusual promotions. Amazon is the midst of "Prime Day," touting what it says are screaming deals for Amazon Prime customers (a cost of about $99 yearly). Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A says this is national "Cow Appreciation Day," and to celebrate, its restaurants are handing out free entrees to customers "who dress in any type of cow attire, whether it's head-to-hoof or sporting a cow-spotted accessory."
  • Bureau of Land Management crews are expected to contain the Loveridge Fire—the district's largest so far this year—which has burned more than 38,000 acres southeast of Bruneau. The Twin Falls Times-News reports nine engines, two dozers and two water tenders responded to the fire.

  • Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees crushed it last night in the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. The 6-foot, 7-inch, 282-pound rookie superstar pounded 47 home runs out of Miami's Marlin Park, winning the all-star competition. "The rookie rises," wrote Jerry Crasnick of ESPN. "Aaron Judge meets the hype with Home Run Derby power show. He is who we thought he was."
