An infant succumbed to injuries Sunday evening following a July 24 Interstate-84 accident, one of three bad crashes reported that same evening by Idaho State Police. ISP confirmed that the 2-month-old boy was in a car seat when the vehicle was rear-ended.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle, a Dodge Stratus being driven by 21-year-old Justin Fitzpatrick, was traveling below the speed limit when it was struck from behind by a Pontiac G6, driven by 50-year-old Steven Shelly of Meridian. Fitzpatrick did not require hospitalization, but an adult passenger and the infant were both transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center where the child died Sunday.
