The Ada County Sheriff's Office has been called to assist in the investigation of an apparent suicide at the Idaho State Correctional Institution, the largest lockup on the Idaho Department of Correction's prison campus south of Boise.

IDOC officials confirmed Dean Miller, 47, was found unconscious in his cell in the early afternoon hours of Sunday, Sept. 6. ISCI staff said they immediately initiated resuscitation measures but Miller was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene.

Miller had been sentenced to 28 years to life behind bars for assault with intent to commit robbery, burglary and possession of a controlled substance. When he was sentenced in December of 2008, Miller already had a prior conviction for a 2005 burglary. He was eligible for parole in September of 2036.
