City of Boise and state of Idaho officials stood alongside Idaho Power representatives this past week to dedicate the first "supercharger" station along Interstate 84, which can provide a free, 80 percent electric vehicle charge in as few as 40 minutes.
Free service is available to a select few owners of Tesla vehicles. Manufacturers' selected retail pricing for the 2015 Tesla Model S Sedan is close to $80,000 and prices for the Roadster topped $101,000.
The supercharger station is off of I-84 exit 50A in Boise, behind the Oxford Suites hotel. It's Idaho's second supercharger station—the other is off U.S. Highway 95 in Coeur d'Alene.
"Idaho Power is thrilled to have the opportunity to supply the fuel to Tesla owners," said Idaho Power Senior Vice President of Power Supply Lisa Grow in a prepared statement. "If you're filling up with us, you're driving on the equivalent of 95-cents-per-gallon gasoline."
Nocera is quick to add that Tesla is also "the new 'it' stock," and is a "company that makes beautiful ... vehicles that are so fantastically well-made that Consumer Reports just gave the Model S P85D sedan its highest rating ever."
