Last Wednesday, the Idaho Senate voted 26 to nine to amend the state's constitution to ban gay marriage (House Joint Resolution No. 2--read the bill in its entirety at www3.state.id.us/oasis/HJR002.html). A law is already on the books in Idaho defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
The recent vote brings the amendment one step closer to Idaho joining the 18 other states who have passed similar amendments to their constitutions. The matter will go before the public for a vote in November, where a simple majority either way will carry the day.

And for those nine who voted against the bill--senators Burkett, Coiner, Kelly, Langhorst, Malepeai, Schroeder, Stegner, Stennett and Werk--flowers might be appropriate.
