You know (or think you know) Idaho the state, but how about Idaho the holiday? This week in Paris, organizers announced plans for the first conference of the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO), which will take place in Moscow, Russia next May 27, on the 13th anniversary of that government's decriminalization of same-sex relationships. IDAHO has been supported by numerous governments worldwide--most recently the Belgian Parliament--and is recognized in 40 nations including: our allies the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Spain and Germany; maligned, supposedly repressive regimes like Iran and China; impoverished nations like Mexico, Kenya and numerous others across Africa, Asia and South America. Of course the United States, and by extension Idaho itself... well, don't hold your breath. We're not living up to our name just yet.
