Hill-folk raid, plunder village

Lesa Ann Lampson, 39, a resident of the remote ex-mining camp of Centerville, was sentenced on January 31 for mining Idaho City High School of three computers. Lampson was an employee of the school, and was charged with stealing the computers-sometimes called "magic light boxes" by her fellow Centervillians-over a period spanning December 2003 to July, 2004.

For her charge of one count of petit theft, Lampson will face two restful days in jail, a $150 fine and 60 grueling hours of community service-or at least, the hours will be grueling if Lampson is forced to spend them spearing the endless trash that decorates Idaho City. She has also earned a year of probation for her heinous act.
