Here Are Your i48 Winners for 2017

Awards were doled out on the stage of the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise June 11, as i48 honored the best 207 short movies from its 48-hour filmmaking competition, now in its 14th year.

Each June, teams write, cast, shoot, score and edit original comedies, dramas, sci-fi, musicals and even silent films. Following a day-long screening of all the entries, the best of the competition filled the big screen of the Egyptian and the top filmmakers of the competition were feted.

Here are the winners this year:

Best Film: Reverie by Skypark Films (open competition) and Sounds of Silence by Findley Productions (novice competition).
Best Actor: Austin Von Johnson in Reverie (open) and Jake Harrington in Scout's Honor (novice).
Best Actress: Laura Mason in A Life Less Fabricated (open) and Yvette Harper in Sounds of Silence (novice).
Best Cinematography: Unplugged (open) and Pursuit (novice).
Best Sound and Music: Who Watches the Watchman (open) and Sounds of Silence (novice).
Best Use of Character: Empathizer (open) and To Clean a Mockingbird (novice).
Best Use of Dialogue: Nearsighted (open) and Love at First Bike (novice).

The Boise Weekly "Big" Award was given to Housekeeping from the Rockit Moving Picture team.
The Sun Valley Film Festival Award was given to Fromage from Ton of Stuff Productions.
The Best Use of Boise Green Bike Award was given to Sounds of Silence from Findley Productions.
