Heating Up?

Does this summer seem hotter than normal? While some may blame it on seasonal fluctuations, one group is telling officials in Washington, D.C. that it's just another sign of global warming.

The United States Public Interest Research Group released a report Tuesday morning claiming that global warming is responsible for warmer temperatures this summer, compared to last summer.

"Throw out the record books, because global warming is raising temperatures in Idaho and across the country," said Erin Wetherley, PIRG spokesperson in a written statement. "The long-term forecast is for more of the same unless we quickly and significantly reduce global warming pollution from power plants and passenger vehicles."

PRIG points to information from the National Climatic Data Center, showing that last year was the second-warmest since the organization began keeping records, adding that 2007 may beat 2006. Last year, temperatures in Boise averaged 3.8 degrees above normal.
