"While our team may be led by true champions, the essence of the team is about teamwork, sportsmanship, selflessness, and sacrifice, wrote CAF Women's Handcycling Coach Carlos Moleda in a release.
Participating athletes include four-time Paralympian and multiple world-champion Oksana Masters; Alicia Dana, who has been on the U.S. National Team since 2011 and is a two-time Paralympian; Gabrielle Platt, who won silver and bronze at the Paracycling National Championships; Lera Deoderlein, who is a member of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Diego Ducks sled hockey teams; Air Force veteran and Redlands Cycling Classic participant Velette Britt; and Danielle Watson and Edit Perkins, both of whom finished the New York City Marathon.
The CAF has maintained a high profile in Boise of late: In June, it brought two athletes with disabilities to the X Games Qualifier at Rhodes Skate Park to perform a demonstration using specially designed wheelchairs and conduct a workshop for young athletes with disabilities.
