- Andy Gallegos was convicted on two counts of attempted rape. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 20 years fixed.
In January, Boise Police charged Andy Gallegos with two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and two counts of burglary, charges stemming from one incident in Winstead Park and two in the North End.
Additional felony charges were added in March, when detectives linked Gallegos to a fourth North End incident in which Gallegos was accused of entering women's bedrooms while they slept.
In 2008, Gallegos was under suspicion by the Meridian Police Department for a series of grope-and-bolt-style attacks in Meridian and Boise, March 2006-January 2008.
While undergoing sentencing Aug. 11, Gallegos was also linked to reports of a prowler near Boise State University. According to Boise Police, early reporting of the crimes by victims and citizen tips assisted in detectives' investigation into the spree of rapes and sexual assault, with Fourth District Judge Steven Hippler saying there's "strong evidence" suggesting Gallegos was behind late 2014 prowler reports near Boise State.
"The case has affected many lives and caused a lot of people fear. Our hope is a successful prosecution will provide some closure for the victims whose lives were changed forever by this man's crimes," wrote Boise Police Chief Bill Bones in a statement.
