Garden City Dragon Parade and Block Party

Garden City is getting back to its fire-breathing Chinese roots with the upcoming Dragon Parade and Moon Festival Block Party. Hosted by the Woman of Steel Gallery, the dragon parade—which features various floats, costumes, flashy, handcrafted dragons and tykes from Garden City Community School on trikes—will depart from the alley between Woman of Steel and the Visual Arts Collective at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. After winding its way north down 36th Street through Garden City’s old town and into the newly erected Waterfront District, the parade will disperse for a raucous block party filled with art, craft and food booths. In addition to traditional Asian dancing on a central stage, attendees can cool down with a frosty cold one at the beer garden and get down with the dragons until the party wraps up at 9 p.m.

Parade starts at 3 p.m., FREE, 3640 W. Chinden Blvd., Garden City, 208-331-5632, Block party runs from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, FREE, Waterfront District. For more information, visit
