Goldy's in Hyde Park Officially CLOSED
Goldy's in Hyde Park has officially shut its doors and is for sale. A few months ago, BW reported that Goldy's had scaled back—to the previous bakery/coffeeshop incarnation of Richard's Across the Street—a move that proved to be very short-lived. Owner Alan Head says, "We didn't have the traffic that we hoped, Monday through Wednesday. I wish to God we could have survived just being open Thursday to Sunday, but we were never able to capture the Monday to Wednesday crowd, to 'crack that code'." Head says that several buyers are currently considering purchasing the space.
Old-Fashioned Italian Wedding dinner
On Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m., the newly opened wine bar and European store—Bacquet's, located in the Boise Towne Square Mall, will host an old fashioned "Italian Wedding." If you haven't experienced a live Italian wedding or a performance of Tony and Tina's Wedding, now is your chance.
At this event, the food will keep coming ... and coming. (There will be six courses: stuffed and baked red bell pepper and artichoke, seafood salad, spaghetti with truffle sauce, pork roulade with prosciutto and portabello rice, veal in caper sauce and, of course, Italian wedding cake.) When you arrive, (dressed for a wedding), you'll be seated with the rest of your "family" where you should try to get along and make allegiances with those from the other families right away because (yikes!) the "families" will ultimately decide who will be the bride and groom.
Granted the whole evening is all in fun, but two people will be chosen to be the bride and groom. Gifts are welcome, as are bridesmaid dresses, dancing, drinking, eating and making new friends. La musica populare will be played by Adam Gottesman (known as "Gotty"), a musician who has performed in over 40 countries.
The cost for the dinner is $49 per person, not including wine. Reservations can be made at 376-WINE.
