- Brandon Hixon.
In October 2017, the 36-year-old Hixon resigned from his District 10 seat in the Idaho House, which he had held for three terms. The Idaho Press-Tribune reported that the Idaho Attorney General's Office had launched an investigation for undisclosed charges. Hixon was arrested Dec. 9 by Meridian Police for DUI, and resisting and obstructing and obstructing officers. Hixon received a second DUI and was jailed Dec. 30 by Caldwell Police. The Press-Tribune reported that Hixon was allegedly under the influence of a depressant drug, not alcohol, during the second incident. Hixon had been scheduled to make his first court appearance next week.
Rep. Jarom Wagoner (R-Caldwell) has since been appointed and sworn in to replace Hixon at the Idaho House.
Betsy Russell of the Spokesman-Review reports that lawmakers were told of Hixon's death in a formal announcement from House Speaker Scott Bedke:
"Our thoughts go first to family and friends who are suffering from this loss,” said Bedke. “We should support those who are close to us when they are struggling. Please remember Brandon’s family in your prayers.”
