To make shopping a little easier, the city of Boise has waived on-street parking fees downtown today, though regular fees apply in lots, garages and at other parking locations.
It's great news not only for shoppers, but for merchants, as well—in this week's edition of Boise Weekly, read what makes some downtown merchants tick during the holiday season.
"Our store is a reflection of downtown Boise and vice versa," said Kent Collins, owner of Flying M Coffeehouse (500 W. Idaho St.), a downtown hotspot. "Besides, I don't think we would get away with a lot of the... hmm, let's say 'unique' gifts that we offer if we were at The Village or the mall."
Some local merchants voiced concern about aggressive parking meter enforcement, saying it causes customers to rush from their shopping to re-up their meters.
