The Foothills School of Arts and Sciences has come up with a pretty impressive roster of the former for their 2005 Summer Program this year. Known for dynamic and innovative curricula, the Foothills School will offer classes this summer including exploration of Greek culture and language, Basque studies, Latin and Chinese language studies, introduction to medieval music, puppet theater and a Batik art class. As exciting as the classes is the summer guest faculty. Resembling a wide spectrum of the Boise A&E scene, talent enlisted by the Foothills School for summer programs includes Matt Hope (recipient of the Idaho Commission on the Arts 2004 Fellowship for Excellence in Performing Arts as a dancer, teacher and choreographer), Steve Fulton (formerly of Boise rock mainstay House of Hoi Polloi), Aage Nielsen (of Boise's hippest classical ensemble, Darkwood Consort), Jerry Hendershot and Juliana Arriaran (both renowned potters) and chess champion Daniel Vellotti.
Says Liz Merrill, summer programs director, "We're thrilled to have such a wide variety of such talented people willing to teach children this summer."
