On Wednesday, July 8, from 5:30-7 p.m., Modern Hotel mixologist Michael Bowers will unveil the Lia and the Jason, cocktails named for Trey McIntyre Project dancers and created as a result of Bowers' inclusion in TMP's 9+1 exhibit in May.
Bowers said the Lia will contain gin, rosemary, lime juice, peach nectar, champagne, bitters and creme de cassis. He's still working on the Jason, however. "A bottle explosion means we have to go with a plan B," Bowers said, cryptically.
Both the Virginia and the John Michael have done well, the John Michael in particular garnering serious devotees, according to Bowers. People were clearly charmed by the rye whiskey, cognac, demerara (raw cane sugar), Torani Amer, orange bitters and Peychaud bitters.
The drinks are only available while supplies last, though Bowers said the John Michael's popularity bodes well for its return.
A $75 card gets you all 10 cocktails (again, while supplies last), with half of the purchase price going to TMP and half going to the Modern. Cards can be purchased at the Modern on Wednesday or through treymcintyre.com/art.
August brings the Chanel and the Dylan, while September boasts the Brett and the Annali. You'll have to wait for the Trey and the Ashley until October.
