Earlier this month, Mayor David Bieter and a volunteer committee announced an architectural design competition to be held in conjunction with Julia Davis Park's 100-year anniversary and community celebration in 2007. Details of the juried competition were revealed by committee member Charles Hummel, a local architect. The intention of the competition, according to a city press release, is to create new designs for park facilities and to raise the public's awareness of the park's importance in the life of the city. So if you have a brilliant design idea, get crackin'.
Proposals should be submitted to the Parks & Rec department no later than January 13, 2006. Information packets are available from email@example.com or 384-4060, ext. 326.
