Darkwood Consort to Play at World Bass Clarinet Conference in Rotterdam

Local chamber musicians Darkwood Consort-for the uninitiated, that's Aage Nielsen on bass clarinet and Jennifer Drake on viola-will perform at the World Bass Clarinet Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on October 22. This is the first conference of its kind in the history of the bass clarinet, and performing will be top players from all over the world.

But that's only part of the news. The thing is, trips like this cost money, and Darkwood needs help. They're having a Road to Rotterdam (not Highway to Hell) fundraiser at Flying M on Sunday, August 28 at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but there will be a silence auction, live music (of course), food and many, many stories about Darkwood's concerts in Iceland and Denmark earlier this year. Come out and show the Consort some love.
