Craig's Court Date

by

Sen. Larry Craig will finally have his day in court September 26.

The latest chapter of the Craig saga will go before Minnesota Fourth Judicial District Judge Charles A. Porter, as Craig seeks to withdraw his guilty plea to disorderly conduct.

The hearing is set for 12:30 p.m. Mountain time, meaning by the time many readers pick up this edition of BW, the Craig story will already be playing out its final scenes. And what a long and twisting saga it's been.

Since his June arrest during a bathroom sex sting operation at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and subsequent guilty plea, Craig has claimed his innocence; placed blame on an Idaho Statesman investigation; announced his intent to resign; announced he might not resign after all; and hired a high-powered attorney and filed to withdraw the original plea.

In the meantime, he has said he will most likely resign on September 30 after all, unless, of course, the judge allows him to withdraw his plea.
