“Mr. Dennis is an experienced and well-respected educator,” wrote Board President Nancy Gregory in a prepared statement. “He has worked tirelessly to build effective working relationships with students, parents, staff members and community stakeholders - all with a focus on what is best for our students and staff members.”
Dennis began working in the Boise School District in 1991, serving as a secondary teacher (Borah High and North Junior), assistant principal (Capital High School, Borah and North), Area Director (Timberline High and Capital High) and Deputy Superintendent.
“I am extremely pleased by the Board’s appointment of Coby Dennis,” said Dr. Coberly.
“He has the successful experience to move this District forward and he is committed to the District’s Strategic Plan Vision of graduating each student prepared for success in college, career and in life. I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Dennis in the next few months to ensure that the succession from one superintendent to another is seamless, smooth and most of all, effective for our students and community we serve.”
Following Coberly's retirement, Dennis will assume the position of Superintendent on July 1, 2019.
The Board of Trustees made another big announcement late Thursday: Lisa Roberts, the school district's Area Director for the Borah Quadrant, has been appointed to be the next Deputy Superintendent. Roberts has served students in the Boise School District for 26 years, as an elementary teacher (Garfield), elementary school principal (Mountain View, Jackson, Morley Jackson and summer school) and as Administrator of Student Programs.
