Civil Liberties Symposium

When: Thu., June 21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fri., June 22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 2012

The theme of the seventh-annual Civil Liberties Symposium is “Through the Eyes of Children: Prejudice, Education, and Community.” This year’s symposium will explore the effects of curtailed civil liberties on children, their families and communities, and their education. The symposium speakers will address the theme as it applies to children’s experiences: Japanese Americans during World War II incarceration, Native American boarding school education, African American school integration, and labor camp migratory lifestyle. Co-sponsored by Minidoka National Historic Site, the Friends of Minidoka, the College of Southern Idaho, and Boise State University.
