China Blue, Dirty Little Roddy's Closed For Construction Until Further Notice

Two popular downtown bars on 6th near Main streets have been temporarily shuttered as construction continues on an historic building in Old Boise.

"We don't know exactly how long this process will take, but we will be back up and running in 2019," wrote Ted Challenger, owner of the bars in question—China Blue and Dirty Little Roddy's—in a statement released December 11.

Challenger wrote that he expects to reopen Dirty Little Roddy's in January 2019, but China Blue will take longer to reopen as repairs are made to a concave in its roof. The latter bar has been partially closed since September, but has been fully closed until further notice in order to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines.

When it reopens, China Blue will have been completely renovated.

"When China Blue opens back up it will have a new look and feel as we will be renovating on top of the necessary construction," Challenger wrote. "Bear with us during this period of construction. We hate it just as much as you do. We can't wait to see you all again, hopefully soon."
