Every year, 17,000 tons of edible food ends up in the Ada County landfill.
Combatting that waste is what brings Julie D'Agostino, founder of the food recovery business Rolling Tomato, to the Boise Farmers Market every Saturday at 12:30 p.m., where she makes a mad dash from vendor to vendor, collecting unsold produce, baked goods and flowers to donate to local nonprofits like Corpus Christi House and the Women's and Children's Alliance.
If you see the lady in the red tomato apron, be sure to say hello—and thank you.
