This year, we hold our second annual Boise Weekly Music Festival. At two years old, this festival feels like my own giant toddler: It keeps me up at night, but I love watching it grow. Again this year, we will showcase some great local musicians and some of the venues that support our local music scene.
For Wednesday night at Reef, we have Brandon Pritchett, Equaleyes, Scribe and Kamphire Collective. Kamphire Collective is gearing up for the release of their debut CD, Simply Complex. They'll offer a taste of the new CD and then celebrate with fellow festival performers Equaleyes and Art Hodge at the Big Easy on April 21. On Thursday night, DJ Pat Benolkin, Ned Evett, Automated and IQEQ take the stage at Neurolux. Benolkin has just released two new CDs, and Evett recently celebrated a new release as well. Friday night, we hit the ground rocking with Bank, Abrupt Edge and Wilson St. Pub & Sluthouse Band. Wilson St. is slated to open for the Independents on April 16 for 1332's Punk Monday at the Bouquet. Midline, originally scheduled to play Friday night, will be unable to join the festival this year. Guitar player Scott Elliott recently had back surgery and his doctor said it's just too soon for Elliott to get back on stage. Their replacement is TBD. We'll wrap up this big party on Saturday, at Terrapin with Kris Doty—who just recently released a CD—Mayerforceone and Stumbleblind, and then DJ Art Hodge will turn up the volume and we'll dance the night away.
If you haven't already, sign up for the BW Clique for a chance to win passes to the festival. Visit www.boiseweekly.com and scroll down to the pink ticket under the picture of the two-headed cow.
