Bronco Alert: Report of Sexual Assault Near Boise State Campus

Boise Police are turning to the public for their help in an investigation of a report of a sexual assault near the campus of Boise State University.

BPD said a female victim awoke in the pre-dawn hours of June 12 as she was being sexually assaulted. The suspect is described as a white male, with dark hair, approximately 40-45 years old, approximately 5-foot 8-inches to 5-foot 10-inches tall, with a pock-marked face.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Boise State Campus Security, or they may offer a tip anonymously through the Silent Witness website by clicking here.

Information can also be shared at Crime Stoppers by calling 343-COPS. Tips can be anonymous. A $1,000 reward is being offered for a tip that leads to an arrest

Officials at Boise State University and the Boise Police Department issued an alert just before 5 a.m. Sunday, notifying the campus community and Boise neighborhoods in and around Boise State that BPD was "investigating a sexual assault [that] just occurred on Manitou [Ave.]" south of the campus.

The Bronco Alert noted the suspect is at large and urged the public to "stay clear of the area." No other information was immediately available.

2016 Boise State Crime Log
According to the 2016 Boise State Crime Log, there have been eight reports of alleged rape on or near campus in the first six months of the year (though not all alleged rapes occurred in 2016). The log also indicates there have been two incidents of alleged domestic battery, three reports of alleged stalking and four reports of fondling on or near campus (the latter occurring as far back as August 2015).
