More than Just Friends

Local musician Brian Wilkinson released, Frontline, his first CD, when he was just 18 years old. Ever since then he's been reaching for the brass ring. At the ripe old age of 22 and with a new CD in production, he may just have that ring within his grasp. He is one of five finalists in a contest to find the best cover of "Jamie Smiles" from the movie Just Friends. It's a Petty Sweet 16

Tom Petty received his 16th Grammy nomination recently, just two days after being presented with Billboard's prestigious Century Award at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Petty was nominated for "Square One," featured in Cameron Crowe's film Elizabethtown.

Some of Petty's previous Grammy nominations include Full Moon Fever (Album of the Year), Wildflowers (Best Rock Album), "Learning To Fly" (Best Rock Song), "Into the Great Wide Open" (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal), Echo (Best Rock Album), "You Don't Know How it Feels" (Best Male Rock Vocal Performance), "Free Fallin'" (Best Male Rock Vocal Performance), Traveling Wilburys, Volume One (Album of the Year), and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal with Stevie Nicks).

The Killer In You, a Smashing Pumpkins' tribute CD just broke into the Top 100 Most Downloaded songs on iTunes. Recently released in digital format, the CD is scheduled for release in January 2006.

The Killer in you features tracks by the likes Armor For Sleep, Hopesfall, Poison The Well, Eighteen Visions and A Static Lullaby. Roses Are Red vocalist Vincent Minervino explains, "I remember being blown away by the power and majesty of the songs [on Siamese Dream].
