The Braun family will have a new 1,200 square foot community stage located at the Challis golf course driving range this summer for their 2005 reunion concert. The idea for a permanent stage came about after the success of last year's reunion concert. Muzzie Braun, spokesman and promoter of the annual show said, "After so many years of playing on flatbed trucks with old blue tarps flapping in the wind, we decided it was time for a change. We talked it up around town, got permission from the golf course and city and started working on stage plans and a budget. We were hoping for some grants, but were unable to get any this year. We have received enough donations and funds from a two-day golf tournament and fundraiser to enable us to get past our first year goal. Although we won't have the finished product until more funds become available, we will be far enough along to use the stage for this year's show. The community stage will be available for use by whoever wants to use it. We are hoping that this will be an added attraction for those that may want to produce other musical events, plays or other types of productions. The natural amphitheatre layout of the driving range makes for terrific seating and acoustics and the views of Round Valley are spectacular." Like last year, Micky and the Motorcars, featuring Micky and Gary, two of Muzzie's sons, will kick off the reunion weekend Friday night with a free street dance on upper Main Street.
On Saturday, the gates open at noon and the concert starts at 1 p.m. People are encouraged to bring low back chairs, sunscreen and a healthy appetite, as food and beverages will be available on site, or people can purchase a $10 cooler pass and bring in their own cooler and refreshments. The original Braun Brothers, Muzzie, Gary and Billy, reunite on the stage so those who attend the show can count on great favorites from all of the Braun family and friends. The show line-up also includes: Sugarhill recording artists, Reckless Kelly, Muzzie Braun and The Boys, Micky and the Mototrcars, George Devore and a special set by The Rock Farmers, four Braun sons. Following Saturday's concert will be a jam session behind the Y Inn, with special guest Steve Wall. There is free parking available and a shuttle from the parking areas to the concert site is available for free from the Challis Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday, August 13, 8 p.m. and Sunday August 14, noon. No pets or glass containers allowed. $12 adults, $7 kids ages 12 and under.
