It's time to kick Christmas to the curb.

Boise households who have more than their share of torn wrapping paper, turkey carcasses and empty bottles will be glad to hear the city of Boise and Republic Services offer overflow trash collection services after the Christmas holiday.

Residents can set out extra trash but that trash must be in wheeled carts or 20- to 32-gallon trash cans. No overflow stickers are required. Holiday cleanup will begin Monday, Dec. 28 and run through Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016.

Additionally, Christmas tree collection in the city of Boise will begin Monday, Jan. 4 and continue through Friday, Jan. 8. Customers of Republic Services are reminded to set their discarded trees out for curbside collection on their regular trash collection day with some stipulations:
  • Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, tinsel and stand
  • Trees must be cut to 4-foot lengths or shorter. Tree branches must also be bundled and weigh less than 60 pounds.
  • Flocked trees and wreaths are not accepted
