Boiseans learned late Tuesday night that eight-time Grammy Award-winning musician Jack White, formerly of The White Stripes, is making a last-minute trip to the City of Trees. The doors of the Egyptian Theatre will open at 7 p.m., and White will hit the stage at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Tickets are on sale beginning at noon for $3. There are 700 available.

White's fans started lining up at 6:30 a.m., but three hours later 220 people had formed a line that stretched a full block. By 10 a.m., that line had stretched from the Egyptian Theatre's ticket window west along Main Street and north on Eighth Street all the way to Idaho Street.

With multiple-hour waits, people who'd queued up for tickets found ways to pass the time. Some folks at the front of the line noshed on Guru Donuts, while others set up folding chairs and played dice. Still others did homework on laptops, read newspapers and sipped coffee.

Boise is White's second stop on his acoustic tour, which has so far included Anchorage, Alaska. White has not yet announced future stops on his tour.
