UPDATE: April 25, 2015 11 a.m.

Boise Police say the arrest of 20-year-old Ryan Finley was triggered by a noise complaint of a residence near the intersection of West Hale Street and South Euclid Avenue just before midnight on April 24.

That's where Boise Police say they spotted a car near the intersection. Initially the occupants of the vehicle got out of the car, but when they spotted police, they got back into the car, according to authorities. Law enforcement said one of the occupants got out and ran away as officers approached the vehicle. Following a brief foot pursuit, police said they spotted Finley crouched in the backyard of a nearby residence. Police said they observed Finley had glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. Soon thereafter, they transported Finley to the Ada County Jail.

An old sports cliche goes something like this: Nothing good ever happens in college football between the spring and the fall. Simply put, it's not uncommon that a few young men, eager to prove themselves on a football field in the fall, have too many opportunities to get into trouble—on or off campus—that could derail their dreams.

Ryan Finley, a 20-year-old sophomore at Boise State University and a top prospect to be a first-string quarterback for the Broncos, ended up behind bars early Saturday morning. Finley took a few snaps in five games during the 2014 college football season and was a key player in Boise State's recent Spring Game, in which he completed 13 passes for 196 yards and helmed six touchdown drives

Finley, a Phoenix, Ariz. native, was arrested in the early morning hours of April 25 and charged with resisting or obstructing officers and being a minor in possession of alcohol. He bonded out but has a court date for Friday, May 15.
