Suspect Turns Himself In To Boise Police in Connection With Fatal Hit and Run on State Street

Adam Weinert is expected to be arraigned October 7.

Boise Police reported late October 6 that 24-year-old Adam Wenert of Boise had turned himself into law enforcement at approximately 3:30 p.m. October 6 in connection with the October 4 fatal hit and run of a man on State Street, east of Collister Drive.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, but died a short time later of his injuries.

Boise Police said Weinert was expected to arraigned Monday, October 7 at the Ada County Courthouse.

Boise Police, working with the Ada County Prosecutors Office, have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in connection with a deadly hit and run collision on State Street in the early morning hours of October 4.

Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Adam Weinert of Boise. Officers said they're currently searching for Weinert and "encourage him to turn himself in."

Weinert is being accused of hitting a man who was walking across State Street, east of Collister Drive, at approximately 1:15 a.m. October 4. The victim was transported to a local hospital, but died a short time later of his injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Boise Police are investigating an early morning, fatal hit-and-run on State Street. This is the second in a week on the busy thoroughfare.

Police said the male victim was crossing State Street east of Collister Drive at approximately 1:15 a.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck. The victim died of his injuries a short time later at a local hospital.

Witnesses said the vehicle, a small gold pickup, left the scene immediately. Police said the vehicle may be a mid- to late-1990s Ford Ranger or similar model pickup. The truck probably sustained front end damage.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

On September 26, a bicyclist was struck and killed in the early morning hours as he was traveling on State Street. The vehicle took off from the scene of the accident, but the driver turned himself in to police 24 hours later. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident.
