Boise Police Hand Out 20 Alcohol-Related Citations

The Boise Police Department, conducting an operation on three evenings over the last two weeks, issued 20 alcohol-related citations after checking 91 Boise establishments including stores, bars and restaurants.

The operation included two 18-year-old minors who used their real IDs to test merchants' compliance checks.

The citations included:
  • Nine misdemeanors issued to adults accused of purchasing alcohol for minors
  • Seven store employees for selling alcohol to minors
  • Three minors for possession of alcohol
  • One adult cited for an open-container citation.
Police officials said citywide compliance checks would continue throughout the summer.

"This is something that is very important to our officers because we’ve seen alcohol cause accidents that take away the dreams and futures of young people and change families’ lives forever.” Said Officer Jermaine Galloway, Boise Police Alcohol Compliance Officer. "We've seen alcohol play a big part in causing traffic accidents, injuries, and even deaths in young people."
