At its regularly scheduled March 7 meeting, the city of Boise Planning and Zoning Commission will consider granting a conditional use permit for a brewery across Capitol Boulevard from Boise State University.

The 1,400-barrel capacity brewery, Lost Grove Brewing, would be located at 1026 S. La Pointe St. in the Lusk Street neighborhood and owned by former Payette Brewing sales representative Jacob Black.

Lost Grove is currently seeking a conditional use permit to operate a brewery within 300 feet of residential property, and city staff has given the request a do-pass recommendation.

According to a staff memo, the rationale for giving Lost Grove a green light is its consistency with Blueprint Boise and the Lusk Street Master Plan.

"Both plans support the adaptive reuse of buildings and promote vibrant neighborhoods through a mix of active uses," P&Z staff wrote. "Based on the breweries' proximity to Boise State University and the numerous apartments in the vicinity, this will be an appropriate addition to the area and bring new life to this 'mixed-use' neighborhood."
