The eyes may be the windows to the soul, but for artists there is an altogether bigger and (usually) messier gateway: the studio. Peering into an artist's work space can tell the curious a lot about creative inspiration and process, and art lovers will have the opportunity to do just that when 60 local artists open their studio doors to the public. Dubbed Boise Open Studios by BOSCO, the art-centric nonprofit that runs it, the event is an attempt to bridge the gap between local artists and the people who applaud what they do. To join the fun, use the map of participating studios in this week's issue to find your way as to meet the artists, buy artwork and generally cozy up to creativity.
Oct. 13-15, visiting hours vary by artist, FREE. Locations vary; find a map at Boise Weekly, Art Source Gallery, Boise Art Museum or online at boiseopenstudios.com.
