A Boise man is behind bars, charged with felony DUI after Boise Police said his vehicle struck a bicyclist and drove away.

Boise Police were called to the intersection of South 15th and West River streets in the late evening hours of July 7. That's where witnesses told police that a vehicle struck the bicycle as the cyclist entered the intersection. A description of the vehicle led police to the suspect a short time later.

Police said they observed an odor of alcohol coming from the driver, in addition to bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The suspect also failed field sobriety tests and blew a blood alcohol level of .189.

25-year-old Barrett Gleixner of Boise was charged with driving under the influence-aggravated and an additional felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident. A court hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 29.

The victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
