The Boise Fire Department responded to 18 fires between July 3 and July 5—that's almost double the number of fires it responded to in 2018.

During the high-risk period, crews were called to three fires that had been caused by fireworks, and an additional 11 fires were possibly related to fireworks. Four were determined to not be related to firework activity during the period surrounding the Fourth of July.

Of the 11 fires that may have been started by fireworks, six occurred in dumpsters and may be related to improperly disposed-of fireworks, and five more were ignited in small grass and shrubs.

In 2018, the Boise Fire Department responded to 10 fires during the same time period.
