Boise Comedian Emma Arnold to Perform at Release Party for New Album, 'Abortion. Abortion. Abortion.'

by

Emma Arnold leans into conflict. Fearless in the face of controversy and the purveyor of intensely personal and sidesplitting comedy, she once again courted umbrage on March 22 when she released her latest album, Abortion. Abortion. Abortion (Blonde Medicine Records, 2019). The title alone is enough to trigger a hate mail logjam at the post office.

Leave it to Arnold to poke the rage beast one more time: On Saturday, April 6, she will throw an official album release party at Woodland Empire Ale Craft benefiting Planned Parenthood, at which she'll perform material from the new album.

Abortion's controversial title and material hasn't slowed its popular ascent. Arnold was the subject of a Forbes Q&A after its release that touched on her new album and her roles at Treefort Music Fest's Comedyfort and her own project, 208 Comedy Fest. She was also profiled by Vanyaland shortly after the release. Not all of the buzz around the album has been positive, however: LaughSpin reviewed it unfavorably, noting that much of Arnold's routine is on well-trodden ground: abortion, sexuality and childrearing all have long histories on comedy club stages.

Regardless, Arnold is arguably Boise's best-known comedian, making scores of tour dates every year, and cutting albums and specials left and right.

The release party begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $20.
