Local brewmasters and Boise Weekly neighbor Boise Brewing took home gold at this year’s Great American Beer Festival. This is the fifth consecutive year Boise Brewing has medaled in the competition, a feat no other Idaho brewery has accomplished.

“If you would have told me when we opened that we’d win medals five years in a row, I would have said you were crazy. I am just very proud to be alongside the other breweries that took home Golds for Boise this year [Sockeye Brewing, Mad Swede Brewing, Boise Brewing],” Head Brewer Lance Chavez wrote in a release.

There were 9,496 total entries from around the country, according to the release.

“This year’s GABF competition was the largest and most competitive to date,” Chris Swersey, competition manager with the Great American Beer Festival, wrote in the release. “The beers and talent were as impressive as ever, and we congratulate this year’s winners for their achievements in brewing.”
