UPDATE: Victim of Boise Canal Drowning Identified

The Ada County Coroner has identified the body of a a man discovered June 12 on a canal bank off of Federal Way as 64-year-old Denver James Burton. He had no permanent address. 

The cause of death has been reported to be accidental drowning.

UPDATE: June 13, 2015 4 p.m.

Boise police said late Saturday that the investigation into the discovery of a body in the canal near Federal Way revealed that the incident did not appear to involve foul play.

A cause of death and identity of the male victim will be released by the Ada County Coroner.


ORIGINAL STORY: June 13, 2015 9 a.m.

Boise police are investigating the June 12 discovery of a body on a canal bank off of Federal Way. 

Law enforcement was summoned to the canal just west of Mesa Vista Drive at around 10 p.m. Friday night. Police and firefighters were responding to a call from a citizen who had been walking along the canal and reported seeing a body submerged in the canal just below a railroad trestle. Police say they've begun an investigation to determine what happened leading up to the discovery of the body. 

Boise police say they're working with the Ada County Coroner to identify the deceased and determine a cause of death.
