Bob Schneider, Nov. 12, The Bouquet

On Halloween day, prolific musician Bob Schneider was supposed to be on the road starting his "Songs Sung and Played On The Guitar With People In The Room Tour." But still at home in Austin, he said he put off leaving until the next day to take his 2-year-old out trick-or-treating. For a man who spends most of the year on the road, the treat must have been staying home for one more day. But even when he is "home," he's always performing. "I play almost as much [at home] as when I'm on the road. Even when I'm here, sometimes I'm playing six times a week."

Schneider has an incredible greatest hits, live CD out that he describes as what you'd hear "if you were to come see me play a show where I played nothing but what the audience wanted to hear." But when Schneider performs, he doesn't just play tunes off his latest release. On this tour, he'll likely preview songs from his upcoming rock opera—due out in February: a 22-song disc titled F*** All You Motherf***ers. When asked about the theme of the opus, he said, "It's about this guy who's a gambler and a junkie. He gets into some deep water with loansharks who come after him and his girlfriend. [The loansharks] finally catch up with them and kill them but he can't die because he's been injected with something, so he continues on and seeks revenge on these guys. It's kind of a love story-slash-crime drama-slash-horror-slash-musical."

If you're at Schneider's Boise show, you may not only get to hear some of the songs, you may get to take some of them home. Schneider records his live shows—including his rants, raves, mistakes and gems—and burns them to CD after his final curtain call. Just place your order prior to that night's performance. You can pick it up on your way out, and walk away with a one-time souvenir from the night.
