Ride With Bob
There's still time to register for the annual Bob LeBow Bike Tour. The ride is a benefit for the Terry Reilly Health Services clinic, a nonprofit community health care clinic. Specifically, the money goes to the Zero Pay Fund, to help underprivileged folks find care. The tour is set for June 14; you can choose to participate in one of five different routes, from 3 to 100 miles. Routes go through parts of Canyon, Owyhee and Malheur counties. For information and to register for the race, go to trhs.org and click on "Bob LeBow Bike Tour."
The Other Ironman
The first-ever Boise Ironman 70.3 is set for June 1, and it's worth checking out as a spectator. Technically, this is a half-Ironman race: Each event is roughly half the length of a full Ironman competition. Boise's events include a 1.2-mi. swim, a 56-mile road bike race and a 13.1-mile run. Still, the event is a qualifier for next year's Ironman World Championship, so hard-core athletes will be coming out in droves.
The swim will be held in Lucky Peak Reservoir; the bike race will take off from there, ultimately following Federal Way onto Capitol Boulevard and into downtown Boise. The bike-to-run transition will be located on Capitol Boulevard and the finish line celebration will take place in BoDo.
