Need Something To Do Monday?

An examination of Boise's early history reveals its remarkable ethnic diversity. From Boise's Chinese immigrants to its Basque population to the Jesus Urquides village, the City of Trees is indelibly marked by the people who helped build it.

Today at the Main Branch of the Boise Public Library, historian and Department of Arts and History Boise 150 grant recipient Ben Kemper will discuss the contributions of the Basques and the Chinese as part of Gem of the Mountains.

Kemper brings history to life not with dry names and dates, but with stories that sketch out the huge personalities, mass movements and cultural inclinations of Boise's early residents. His talk is free and begins at 7 p.m.
