You've probably seen it before but didn't notice it resting near Idaho Botanical Garden with its stately columns shaded by its wraparound porch.
It's the Bishops' House. Built in 1888 and expanded in 1899, this Old Boise landmark is hosting a Victorian Holiday Open Parlor today for tours of its elegant interior. More than a mere mansion, the home is prized for its humongous size and extreme ornateness.
Be sure to visit the parlor, music room, the bride's and groom's rooms, the dining room, the kitchen and foyer. Not a single room is without spectacular molding, period wallpaper and furniture, and don't miss the expansive gardens out back.
The house is open from 3-7 p.m., and entrance is $4, or free for children 12 and younger. Complimentary cider will be provided.
