You know all the great artwork that graces the cover of Boise Weekly every week? Ever wonder what we do with it? Then you haven't been to our annual Cover Auction.
Returning auction fans can tell you that it's one of the must-attend events of the year, where you can pick up some incredible artwork created by local artists while supporting the local arts scene—is that enough local art for you?
Once a year, BW auctions off all the original artwork from the last year's worth of covers with the proceeds going to the Boise Weekly Cover Auction Grants program, which supports both individual artists and arts organizations who make the community a little better by bringing more art to us all.
This year's Cover Auction will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Idaho State Historical Museum. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 6 p.m. Entry is a $5 suggested donation.
What do you get for your $5 besides a warm fuzzy feeling? Access to one of the funnest parties around with no-host beer and wine, munchies and even the bonus of access to the museum, where you can spend a little time checking out the exhibits. This year, the crew from Idaho Shakespeare Festival will be joining us for all the fun, as well.
Watch for a special insert in the Wednesday, Oct. 10, edition of Boise Weekly to view all of the covers, or join us on First Thursday, Oct. 4, for a special preview show at the museum.
