Way to go, Boise bike lovers: The Aug. 18 Boise stop of New Belgium Brewing's Tour de Fat netted $49,526 for area bike organizations and boasted the largest bike parade the event has ever turned out in the City of Trees.

The parade drew roughly 5,000 participants, who were joined at Ann Morrison Park by another 1,500 friends for a day of celebrating bikes, beer and music. The funds raised throughout the event will go to support the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association, Treasure Valley Cycling Alliance and Boise Bike Project.

New Belgium even noted in a press release that 80 percent of the waste generated by the event was diverted from the trash.

Again, way to go, Boise.
