The Hollingshead brothers are not breast men. When it comes to chicken, they're all about the wings.
For the 10th anniversary of the Hollingshead brothers’ annual hot wing cook off Grills Gone Wild, 61 local chefs will flash their grill skills by whipping up a whopping 1,070 pounds of wings. The event kicks off on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. in Renaissance Park in Meridian.
According to their website, which provides a wealth of wing-off factoids along with photos from past competitions, the event started in 2001 as a friendly backyard grill-off.
What started as sibling rivalry has grown significantly over the years, and is a way for the cooks and supporting folks to give something back to our community, engage in a little smack-talk, and share their recipes.
Grills Gone Wild attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, shade canopies, a cooler (no glass allowed) and a healthy appetite. There will be live music by The Brian Bateman Blend and Innocent Man.
