Air National Guard Training In, Around, and Over Boise This Week

The Idaho Air National Guard will be conducting special tactical communication skills in and around Boise beginning this week and running through Thursday, July 25.

The Guard, which will include members of the 124th and 190th fighter wing and visiting Guard tactical air command and control specialists from Florida, will be training with equipment that simulates air strikes while they practice ground-to-air coordination.

A guard spokesman says it won't be out of the ordinary for the public to spot Guard members with ground-to-air radios while stationed in various spots around the Treasure Valley, including the Boise Foothills and perhaps even in within the Boise city limits.

The training, dubbed "Urban Close Air Support," will also include some A-10 Thunderbolt II jets flying over Boise at altitudes between 10,000 and 15,000 feet.
